Meet the SU Leadership Team
The Students’ Union Leadership Team is a voluntary group of students who are dedicated to representing and enriching student life at Dudley College. The team is made up of one full-time sabbatical President, one part-time voluntary Vice President and six Assistant President part-time voluntary positions. There are also a number of Campus Leader and liberation Chair posts.

Dudley Students' Union has a paid sabbatical President elected each year to represent the views of every single student across Dudley College Campuses.

Participate, as the lead of the SU leadership and management team, in the determination and oversight of the overall strategic direction and leadership of the Students’ Union
Lead on the strategic development of the Students’ Union.
Represent and engage with students of all types of study and background across all parts of the Dudley College/Dudley Sixth Campus

Students' Union Vice President
Ensure the implementation of strategic goals or projects is carried out properly, smoothly, and efficiently.
Will be the other Student Governor on The College Corporation if the HE Officer position is vacant.
Represent the SU President and the Union by attending meetings if the President is unable and assist the President in the projects the SU is undertaking.
They will meet with members of the Leadership team regularly to ensure they are supported and fully understand their roles and responsibilities.
Make sure the Leadership team is united, connected and strong.

Assistant President of Union Development
Have to be OVER 18 to apply for this position.
Be the key Leader for volunteering and opportunities, including being the Leader of the SU Crew.
Oversee the development of the union in accordance with strategic objectives. This might include expansion or redevelopment of physical spaces, implementation of new services, or fostering new partnerships.
Explore new funding streams for the SU and along with the help of the Student Development Officer find and apply for funding bids.
Regulate expenditure of the Union in such a way as to maximise Union activities and Authorise cheque and petty cash payments by acting as Finance Officer for Dudley Students’ Union.

Assistant President of Sustainability
Lead on sustainability issues, launch campaigns to tackle environmental issues such as Eco-anxiety, impacts on equality and liberation and how to make the college a greener place to study.
Help run the eco ambassador program and get students actively engaged in environmental activity’s, initiatives and campaigns.
Strive to encourage the college and SU to be more eco- friendly and reduce carbon footprint.
Represent students in eco committee meetings with college.

Assistant President of Media and Outreach
Work to raise Students’ Union presence across all campus’ and increase student engagement.
Promote SU services such as TOTUM, C-card, Free age ID and Period product scheme.
Establish and maintain effective communications with members i.e., Students’ Union website, notice boards, and posters.
Increase SU brand awareness with college students and staff.
Help to recruit like-minded individuals to the SU and promote volunteering opportunities such as the SU Crew.
Think of new ways to engage students in SU activities, events and campaigns.

Assistant President of Liberation
Represent the views of liberation and representational officers to the Union and the College.
Support liberation and representational officers with their role
Create new initiatives for ways in which to engage students in discussing and debating topics relating to Equality and Diversity to tackle prejudice and promote understanding.
Spearhead campaigns, organise events and run activities to advance the liberation movement.
Work with, and be a leader for the Liberation Network Chairs, regularly checking in and supporting them with initiatives and running of the Networks.

Spearhead course excellence through representation and student engagement.
Run campaigns on improving the quality and experience of education for students.
Steer effective change for students throughout their courses using the power of student voice.
Work closely with class reps and campus leaders to improve the student experience at college through union opportunities.

Assistant President of Communities
Work to build communities across college and engage them in SU activities.
Foster belonging for students making the SU and college a warm and welcome place to be a part of.
Lead community projects and initiatives that make a positive difference in students’ lives.
Monitor community and welfare issues on a local and national level.
Represent students’ welfare needs to the union and college and lead on welfare related initiatives.
Develop new initiatives for ways in which students could be supported e.g. run campaigns, such as mental/sexual and general health, student finance, housing, safety, disability etc.

Campus Leader
In conjunction with the President of the SU, ensure the interests of the students at your campus are well represented across the college and at the Big Student Get Together
Be responsible for ensuring that SU activities such as trips, clubs and events are well publicised at your campus
Be actively involved in SU elections encouraging students to stand for election and vote in elections
Ensure that issues specific to your campus are raised by students and brought to the attention of college management/campus manager

Liberation Leaders are also here to represent specific groups across Dudley College.

As members of the Student Body, Student Governors represent themselves on Dudley College's Corporation.

Student Governor & Dudley Students' Union President
There are no particular rules about the skills or qualifications needed to become college Governor. On the contrary, they are everyday people who collectively bring to the Corporation a wide range of interests and expertise. Two students are invited to sit on the corporation. Student Governors need to prepare for meetings by reading the papers and thinking about the questions they may ask. In addition, Governors play a part in the life of the College and may be invited to awards evenings, presentations, art shows and other events.
